CeroCO2 is a joint initiative of the Acciónatura and Fundación Ecología y Desarrollo (Ecology and Development) charities that aims to educate society about the need to take immediate action against the global warming of the planet. It offers viable and realistic solutions to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases and more specifically, to offset CO₂ emissions.

At the moment, it is working on a programme to reforest Sierra Gorda in Mexico and has the aim of replanting 400 hectares of land, capturing a total of 158,176 tonnes of CO₂ in 30 years.

Reforestation is carried out using only indigenous species and is managed through local civic associations, following a social strategy that involves hundreds of locals.

This project has the aim of reinstating natural wealth in this region, which is characterised by its high environmental value and exceptional biodiversity, whilst simultaneously counteracting the poverty of local communities.
