THE ONLY ORGANIC COTTON WITH THE NATURAL COLOURS OF THE EARTH
All Cooliflower products are made with the only organic cotton that takes its colours from the earth. This means that they do not use fabric dyes to create base colours.
Growing cotton organically means doing away with the use of any kind of chemical or synthetic product, using biomonitoring systems to combat plagues (or in other words, using birds and insects) and following traditional and sustainable production processes to prevent soil contamination and species in the area from being affected.
To ensure that there are no traces of agrichemicals, growing fields must be left for between three to ten years without being traditionally farmed before they can produce ecological cotton. They are also equipped with a safety strip so that they cannot be contaminated by conventional crops.
With organic farming, farmers and workers that handle the cotton are not exposed to respiratory or dermatological conditions that are typical of conventional cotton farming. Furthermore, the natural growth cycle of organic cotton is shorter and allows for crop rotation, combining cotton production with the farming of traditional foods to improve the conditions of farming families.
Additionally, conventional cotton farming is highly pollutant. It uses genetically modified seeds so that the plant is more resistant to pesticides, but over time the plagues also become more resistant and other, more aggressive pesticides are then needed which pollute the soil and destroy species in the area.
It has also been proven that the use of transgenic seeds does not bring about a greater crop yield but it does imply a greater use of fertilisers, water and insecticides.
